Rtl8305nb-vb is a 5-port 10 / 100M Ethernet switch controller, which integrates memory, 5 Macs and 5 physical layer transceivers for 10Base-T and 100base TX operations into one chip.
In order to complete diagnosis in complex network systems, rtl8305nb-vb provides a loopback feature in each port.
Rtl8305nb-vb supports several advanced QoS functions with four level priority queues to improve multimedia or real-time network applications, including:

Rtl8305nb-vb supports 16 VLAN groups. These can be configured as port based VLANs and / or 802.1Q tag based VLANs. Rtl8305nb-vb also supports VLAN learning, with four independent VLAN learning (IVL) filtering databases.
Rtl8305nb-vb contains a 2K entry address lookup table. The four-way associative hash algorithm avoids hash collision and maintains forwarding performance.
The maximum packet length may be 2048 bytes. Three types of independent storm filters are provided to filter packet storms, and an intelligent switch engine is provided to prevent line head blocking.
Rtl8305nb-vb supports energy-saving Ethernet mode (EEE; defined in ieee802.3az) to minimize system power consumption. Energy efficient Ethernet (EEE) supports low power idle mode. When the low power idle mode is enabled, the systems on both sides of the link can disable some functions and save power during the period of low link utilization.
In order to simplify the peripheral power supply circuit, rtl8305nb-vb integrates an LDO regulator to generate 1.2V from a 3.3V input power supply, and only needs an external diode.
