The ARG82801 is a power management IC that integrates a dollar or dollar/boost pre regulator, four ldos, and four floating gate drivers. The pre regulator uses a step-down or step-down/step-up topology to effectively convert the vehicle battery voltage into a strictly regulated intermediate voltage and provide control, diagnosis and protection.
The output of the pre regulator provides a 3.3V or 5.0V selectable 350 mA linear regulator, a 5V/115mA linear regulator, and two 120 mA protected linear regulators to track the output of the VUC. ARG82801 is designed to provide power for microprocessors, sensors and CAN transceivers, and is an ideal choice for underlying applications.
The independent floating gate driver has the ability to control n-channel mosfet through SPI. These mosfets can be configured as phase or battery isolation devices in high current motor applications. The integrated charging pump allows the driver output to keep the power MOSFETs on within the full power supply range of high phase voltage rotation rate. The input to ARG82801 includes logic level (ENB) and high voltage (ENBAT). The ARG82801 also provides the flexibility to disable a single output rail via the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).
Diagnostic output from ARG82801 includes power reset output (NPOR) and fault flag output (FFn) to remind the microprocessor that a fault has occurred. The microprocessor can read the fault status through SPI. Double band gap, one for adjustment and the other for fault detection, improves the safety coverage and fault detection capability of ARG82801.
ARG82801 includes two types of watchdog functions: question answering and window watchdog timer. The watchdog timer is activated when it receives a valid SPI command from the processor. The watchdog can be put into flash memory mode or reset via a secure SPI command.
The ARG82801 is encapsulated in a low profile (1.2mm maximum) 38 conductor eTSSOP (suffix "LV") with an exposed power mat.
