LTC ® The 4366 vibration damper protects the load from high voltage transients. By controlling the gate of the external N-channel MOSFET, the LTC4366 regulates the output during the overvoltage transient. When the overvoltage drops through the MOSFET, the load can keep running. Placing a resistor in the return line can isolate LTC4366 and allow it to float with the power supply; Therefore, the upper limit of the output voltage only depends on the availability of the high resistance and MOSFET rating.
An adjustable overvoltage timer prevents MOSFET damage, while an additional 9-second timer provides MOSFET cooling. The stop pin reduces the quiescent current to below 14 µ A during shutdown. After a failure, LTC4366-1 locks off and LTC4366-2 will automatically retry.
