Tps9251hv-q1 is a compact monolithic switching regulator with low resistance n-channel MOSFET. This device is suitable for high brightness LED lighting applications and meets the requirements of efficiency, high bandwidth, PWM or analog dimming and small size.
The regulator has constant off time and peak current control function. The working principle is very simple: the on time starts after a period of off time based on the output voltage. After reaching the peak current threshold of inductance, the conduction time ends immediately. The tps9251hv-q1 device can be configured to maintain a constant peak to peak ripple during the on and off time of the shunt FET dimming cycle. This period is ideal for maintaining linear response over the entire shunting FET dimming range.
The high side comparator with low offset voltage helps to achieve steady-state accuracy. Analog or PWM dimming technology alone or both can be used to modulate the LED current. Other features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), wide input voltage operation, inherent led open circuit operation and thermal shutdown function, with a wide operating temperature range.
