Description
L6599at is an improved version of the previous l6599a. It is a two terminal controller specific to the series resonant half bridge topology. It provides 50% complementary duty cycle: the high side switch and low side switch drive on / off 180 ° phase loss at the same time. The output voltage regulation is obtained by modulating the working frequency. A fixed cut-off time is inserted between the closing of one switch and the turning on of another switch to ensure the soft switch and realize high-frequency operation.
In order to drive the high side switch with guiding method, the integrated circuit integrates a synchronous driving high-voltage DMOS that can withstand more than 600V, replacing the external fast recovery guiding diode.
The integrated circuit enables the designer to set the operating frequency range of the converter through an external programmable oscillator. At startup, in order to prevent uncontrolled inrush current, the switching frequency starts from a programmable value and gradually attenuates until it reaches the steady-state value determined by the control loop. This frequency shift is nonlinear to minimize excessive output voltage; Its duration is also programmable.
When the IC operates in the controlled burst mode, the light consumption can be kept to a minimum.
IC functions include a non latched active low disable input with current hysteresis for power sequencing or power failure protection, a current sensing input for frequency shifted OCP and delayed shutdown for automatic restart. If the primary protection is insufficient to control the main current, the higher-level OCP locks the integrated circuit. Their combination provides complete protection against overload and short circuit. An additional latch disable input (DIS) allows easy implementation of OTP and / or OVP.
An interface with the PFC controller is provided to enable the pre regulator to shut down in fault conditions, such as OCP shutdown and dis high, or during burst mode operation.
