Uc3842b and uc3843b series are high-performance fixed frequency current mode controllers. They are specifically designed for non − wire and DC − DC converter applications, providing designers with a more cost-effective solution and minimal external components.
These integrated circuits are characterized by a clipping oscillator for precise duty cycle control, a temperature compensated reference, a high gain error amplifier, a current sensing comparator, and a high current totem output very suitable for driving power MOSFET. It also includes protection functions, including input and reference undervoltage locking, cycle − current limiting by − cycle current, programmable output cut-off time, and single pulse metering lock.
These devices are available in an 8 − pin dual − wire and surface mount (SOIC − 8) plastic package and a 14 − pin plastic surface mount (SOIC − 14). SOIC − 14 package is a totem pole output stage with independent power supply and grounding pins.
The UVLO thresholds of ucx842b are 16V (on) and 10V (off), which are very suitable for off-line converters. Ucx843b is customized for low voltage applications with UVLO thresholds of 8.5V (on) and 7.6v (off).
