Lm5009 step-down switching regulator has all the functions required to realize low-cost and efficient step-down regulator. The device can drive 150mA load current with 9.5v to 95v input source. The switching frequency can exceed 600kHz, depending on the input and output voltages. The output voltage can be set from 2.5V to 85V. The high voltage regulator consists of an n-channel step-down switch and an internal startup regulator. The device is easy to implement and is packaged in 8-pin vssop and heat dissipation enhanced 8-pin WSON.
The voltage regulator is based on the control scheme, and the on time is inversely proportional to VIN. With this characteristic, the operating frequency of the device can remain relatively constant when the load and input voltage change. The control scheme can achieve ultra fast transient response without any loop compensation. The device realizes intelligent current limit, and its forced shutdown time is inversely proportional to Vout. This scheme can ensure short-circuit control while providing less turn back. Other features include thermal shutdown, VCC undervoltage locking, grid drive undervoltage locking, and duty cycle limiter.
